When you visit our office for an eye exam, emergency treatment, or any other reason, you can expect to be seen by one of our three eye doctors and receive support from members of our broader team (see below).

Dr. Darren Schamber

Originally from Cold Lake, Alberta, Dr. Schamber received his Doctor of Optometry degree with honours from the University of Waterloo in 1997 after which he completed a residency in ocular disease and surgical co-management at world renowned Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami. He spent one year as a staff optometrist at The Eye Institute in New Port Richey, Florida before returning to Canada to open Vista Eyecare in 2003.

Dr. Schamber has lectured for the Canadian Diabetes Association regarding the effects of diabetes on the eye, to family physicians on emergency eye care, and to ophthalmology residents about contact lens fitting and assessment. He was the chair of the Saskatchewan Association of Optometrists' Continuing Education committee for nearly 10 years, and also served on its Practice Appraisal committee. He has been recognized by Bausch & Lomb for excellence in the field of contact lenses, and maintains a special interest in ocular disease and surgical co-management.

Dr. Schamber is married to Dr. Nadia Lypka, also an optometrist in Saskatoon, and has two sons, Andrew and Luke. He is a fan of soccer, snowboarding, water sports, and good coffee. When not at the office he can often be found at the SaskTel Sports Centre or the Saskatoon Field House watching his boys’ activities.

Dr. Beverly Orr

Dr. Orr grew up in and around many Saskatchewan Provincial Parks. She attended the University of Saskatchewan and the University of Waterloo and has called Saskatoon home since 1988.

Dr. Orr joined Vista Eyecare in 2009. She appreciates the continuous advancement in knowledge and technology in the profession of optometry.

Dr. Orr is a happy empty-nester. Her husband M. Craig Campbell is an artist-blacksmith. They enjoy supporting local art and artists, live music and many of Saskatoon's fine restaurants.

Dr. Alicia Finch

Dr. Finch was born and raised in Prince Albert, SK. She completed her Bachelor of Science at the University of Saskatchewan then moved to Chicago, IL to attend Illinois College of Optometry. In 2012 she graduated with her Doctor of Optometry.

During Dr. Finch's studies, she worked at Malmstrom Air Force Base in Montana, the University of Kentucky Eye Clinic, the West Palm Beach VA Medical Center, and the Illinois Eye Institute. This gave her a chance to travel around the US as well as learn in a wide variety of types of practices. The majority of her time as an intern was spent focusing on ocular disease, emergency eye care, pediatrics, and general eye care.

Dr. Finch practiced for one year in the Chicago suburbs before happily returning to Saskatchewan in 2013. She joined the Vista Eyecare family in 2015.

In her free time Dr. Finch enjoys travelling, taking her dog Charlie to the lake and the dog park, and crafting. She especially loves designing and making fun costumes for any event possible (and is the proud reigning Ugly Christmas Sweater Party champ two years running!).
